​MISSION AND HISTORY
The Atlantic County Council of Youth Programs, Inc. was formed in September 1989. It was incorporated as a 501 ©3 organization in October 1999. The founding board still serves as the Board of Directors with each program under our umbrella providing (2) two member representatives to serve on the Board.
ACCYP, Inc. is a community based non-profit which oversees youth programs that assist our young people in bridging the adolescent stage to young adulthood. We provide a wide variety of programming from personal development to entrepreneur training to theatrical & etiquette training. Our programming also envelops educational, cultural and recreational activities. The programs under our umbrella are The Rites of Passage Programs (Male, Female & Alumni), the Atlantic City Theater Guild, the Atlantic County Youth Leadership Council, the AC Youth Entrepreneur Program, the William J. Porter II Basketball League (formerly the Venice Park Basketball League) and the Summer Youth Employment Program.
Our programs are scheduled Monday to Thursday between the hours of 3:00pm to 8:00 pm, only the William J Porter Memorial Basketball League is in session during the months of July & August.
Our administrative offices are located at 1230 North Indiana Avenue, Suite 210 Atlantic City, NJ 08401 and our programs are held at the AC PAL Center, the Second Baptist Church, Stockton University and other community facilities.
Our funding has been provided through the City of Atlantic City, the Community Development Block Grant, the Municipal Alliance Program, donations, fundraisers and program registration fees.
Our Annual events are the Rites of Passage International Conference- Mentorship Training, Financial Workshops for Non-Profits, Creative & Effective Programming, Youth Leadership & Development workshops and a reunion of the elders and alumni of the Rites of Passage programs
